Fighting in the city left many civilians death.
A refugee in Sudan reported that on the first days of the fighting in the city, she saw 24 bodies lying on the streets. The residents were prevented from burying them by Amhara militia (Fano). The Ethiopian HRC puts the number of deadly casualies at 25.
